Roasted Baby Potatoes

So who doesn’t love potatoes ??? The one vegetable that everyone loves. This is a delicious crispy pan fried baby potatoes which can be had with rice or rotis (My kids have them as such 😋)

Pattani Sundal

Sundals are prepared using legumes like chickpeas, corn, peanuts, green gram etc. They are easy to cook and are very healthy. Sundals are normally prepared during festivals like Navaratri, Vinayakar Chadurthi in South India. I have prepared Pattani sundal by tempering boiled peas with onions and garnishing with mango chunks. It is very nutritious and kids love it !!!

Elaneer Payasam

Elaneer Payasam is a delicious dessert prepared by blending tender coconut water, flesh and milk. It is easier to prepare with very less ingredients. It is normally served chilled and acts as a coolant to the body.

Rava Kesari

Rava Kesari is a quick and easier dessert from the South Indian cuisine. Whenever we have a guest at home this is a easy and quick recipe that we can rely on. Will be ready in minutes and yet tastes delicious. On the occasion of navaratri, I have been preparing desserts that are easy and can be prepared in very less tome and this recipe can never be missed.

Groundnut Sundal

I have prepared Groundnut sundal by tempering boiled peanuts with chilli and curry leaves. It can be had as a snack or as an accompaniment to any variety rice. It is very nutritious and kids love it !!!

Aval Ladoo

Aval ladoo is an easy and quick sweet recipe that can be prepared for any festival. Today being navaratri I wanted to prepare a dish in very less time and yes this was a perfect recipe for it ! You can use normal aval instead of red aval.

Pacha payiru Sundal

Green gram Sundal / pacha payiru Sundal is a healthy snack option and can be prepared quickly as it doesn’t require overnight soaking of the lentil. The tempering is so important and adds the taste and flavour to the Sundal. You can add onions and coconut to this recipe if you like.

Sweet Corn Halwa

Sweet Corn Halwa is a quick and delicious dessert prepared by blending steamed corn with koya. You can prepare this during any special occasion, festivals or when you crave for something sweet. This recipe is a definite hit among all age groups.

Channa Sundal

I have prepared Channal sundal using white chickpeas and coconut. It can be had as a snack or as an accompaniment to any variety rice.

Tomato Rice

Easy and tasty variety rice that can be prepared quickly. The tangy tomatoes along with spices makes the dish drool worthy and also a perfect lunch box recipe. You can have it with vegetable fry, curd or pappads too.

Sweet Potato Fries with Garlic Mayo Dip

French fries / potato fries is my girl‘s favourite. She doesn’t like sweet potatoes as it is and I always try to include it in the diet in some form she loves to have. This sweet potato fries is one such attempt and yayy it was so good and she loved it too !!!

The garlic mayo is such a mouth watering dip that complements the flavor of the sweet potato with its tangy garlic taste.

Keerai Vadai

Vadai is an all time favourite South Indian snack. Vadai can be prepared using urad dal or channa dal. I have already posted my mix veg Medhu vadai recipe using whole urad dal. This Keerai vadai / masala keerai vadai is prepared by grinding channa dal with spices along with onion, spinach and deep fried.

Masala Chai

Masala Chai is a tea beverage made by boiling tea in milk and water mixed with aromatic herbs and spices. Evenings can’t better without chai ! Masala chai is prepared using spices and herbs mixed with tea powder and milk. I have added ginger, cardamom, cinnamon and cloves to the tea which enhances the aroma and flavour of the tea. Masala chai helps to regulate digestive system and we always love it Super strong.

Kashayam for Cough and Cold

This is a usual cough / cold remedy that we follow in our home. Kashayam is a water decoction of herbs and spices that would help to alleviate the symptoms of cold and cough. Easy to prepare at home. It soothes the throat and helps during the bad cold days. You can add palm sugar / honey as you prefer as the decoction might be bitter by itself.

Pav Bhaji

Pav Bhaji is a fast food from India. It consists of a vegetable gravy served with a soft bread roll. It is a delicious blend of mixed vegetables cooked in butter and spices.

Thattu Vadai Set

Thattu vadai set is a very popular street food in Tamil Nadu. It is a sandwich made with thattu vadai / thattai along with our preferred vegetables, green chutney, tamarind chutney and red chutney. I have used carrots, onions and beetroots.

Paneer Satay with Peanut Sauce

Satay refers to finely grilled marinated meat in skewers and served along with sauce. It’s very popular in Indonesia and Malaysia. I have replaced meat with paneer for a vegetarian version of the satay. The essence of this dish is in the marination.

Sweet Potato Bonda is a spicy deep fried snack made with sweet potato, chickpea flour and onions with spices.

Custard Apple Kesari

Custard apple Kesari is prepared by using rava, sugar and custard apple and gets ready in less than 15 mins.

Carrot Ginger Soup

Simple, tasty and flavourful carrot soup prepared with carrot, ginger, onion, garlic and lemon zest to enhance the flavours and give a yummy twist to the regular carrot soup !

Ginger added to the soup balance out the sweetness of the carrot and also helps to fight the common cold, flu symptoms.

Vegan Chocobar

Chocobar / Chocolate popsicle is a water or milk-based frozen snack on a stick. In this recipe I have tried a different, healthy and vegan version of the chocolate popsicle / Chocobar which is prepared by blending cocoa powder, almond milk, peanut butter, maple syrup and banana.

Paruppu Thogayal

Paruppu Thogayal is a simple and quick accompaniment that can be prepared n very less time. It can be mixed with rice or had as a side to any spicy South Indian gravy.

Milagu Kuzhambu

Milagu Kuzhambu is a traditional and tasty South Indian accompaniment that is prepared with freshly ground masala and tamarind. It is a healthy and has medicinal properties and could be had if you are down with cold.

Tapioca / Maravalli Kizhangu Adai

Maravalli kizhangu also known as Tapioca / kuchi kizhangu is the starch from cassava roots. It has high carbohydrates and when taken in moderate quantity helps in weight gain. It is also gluten free and free of common allergens.

This recipe is made by grinding the Tapioca with rice and lentils. It serves as a good and healthy option for breakfast / dinner.

Shahi Tukda

The one recipe that I wanted to post for long time. My favourite dessert from the Hyderabad cuisine. Shahi Tukda is a rich, exotic and mouth watering dessert made using deep fried breads coated with sugar water and soaked in saffron and rose flavoured milk.

Pumpkin Energy Balls

The pumpkin energy balls is a chewy, tasty bites that can be prepared by using pumpkin purée, rolled oats and honey/ maple syrup along with nut butter.

Dahi Channa Chat

Chaat has many variations and I simply love everything. This chaat is prepared by mixing chickpeas, dahi, boiled potatoes, crispy sev and topped with sour and spicy green chutney and tangy dates tamarind chutney.

Kadalai Paruppu Payasam

Payasam is a sweet / dessert from the Indian sub continent cuisine. It is made by boiling milk, sugar and rice / dal. Generally paruppu payasam will be prepared using moong dal. Here, I have used channa dal instead.

Curd rice / Thayir sadam

Curd rice is prepared by mixing mashed rice with curd, curd is unsweetened probiotic yogurt and is rich in calcium and helps in digestion.

Puli Inji by Priya Anantharaman

Puli Inji is a traditional and exotic pickle prepared in Kerala, South India and no sadhya is complete without it. It is so tasty and is a combination of all flavours sour, sweet and spicy. The main ingredients are ginger, tamarind and green chillies which are mixed in right quantity to make a flavourful, rightly balanced dish.

Roasted Broccoli in Tahini Yogurt

I love trying Broccoli in different forms. In this recipe I have pan roasted the marinated Broccoli and added it to the tahini yogurt which enhances the taste of the dish and makes it mouth watering and luscious.

French toast is a dish made of sliced bread soaked in eggs and milk, then pan fried. Here, I have tried the egg less version.

French toast is normally served as a sweet / savory dish. In the sweet version of French toast, milk, vanilla essence, cinnamon are added before pan-frying and then topped with sugar / maple syrup / fruits. This is a quick and kids favorite breakfast option.

Bhel Puri

Bhel puri is a popular Indian street food that is made with puffed rice, potato, onion, tomato mixed with sweet, tangy and spicy chutneys and sev along with spice powders. The chutney’s are inevitable and make the dish more tasty.

It’s almost everyone’s favourite and can be made easily to have a great evening snack.

Kottavarangai / Cluster Beans Paruppu Usili

Paruppu usili is a popular and protein packed dish from Tamil Nadu, South India.

It is made by softening the dal by soaking, steaming and mixing them with the vegetables of your choice. In this recipe, I have made cluster beans / kothavarangai paruppu usili. You can prepare it with beans, vazhathai poo, cabbage too.

Double berry smoothie

Smoothies are a great choice for breakfast or as a mid-day snack. This recipe for a double berry smoothie is a refreshing and healthy combination of fruit and yogurt that’s kid-approved and super easy to make !!

Instant Rava Dosa

Rava dosa is a quick and tasty South Indian tiffin variety. It can be had for breakfast / dinner. It so crispy and light and tastes amazing. It’s made with rava, rice flour and maida along with ginger, green chillies , pepper and onion.

Palak Paneer

Palak paneer is an exotic, nutritious and delicious paneer gravy / accompaniment made with spinach and paneer along with spices. They can be had with rice / roti. They are smooth and creamy and so tempting.

Plain Biryani or Kuska

Kuska is a rice dish of primarily South Asian origin made with spices, rice and ghee. I have used jeera samba rice for Kuska but you can try basmati rice as well.

The spices and condiments used are cardamom, cinnamon, bay leaves, coriander and mint leaves, apart from ghee, ginger, onions. The dish is served with korma, curry, dahi chutney or Raita.

Bombay Chutney / Kadalai Maavu Chutney

Bombay chutney is a super quick yet delicious accompaniment that you can have with Idli / Dosa / poori / Chapati. It’s made with besan flour / kadalai maavu / chick pea flour as main ingredient along with tomato onion and spices.

Coffee Dates Walnut Smoothie

This coffee dates smoothie is a slightly different from the regular smoothie. You can have it for breakfast or even as mid evening snack. They are delicious, filling and healthy.

Dates when added with Banana gives your smoothie a natural sweetness and makes it even more delicious. Soaked walnuts gives your smoothie a creamy texture.

Simmely balls is an old traditional dish. It’s made with ragi, peanut, ghee and jaggery. This healthy and tasty dish is loaded with nutrients and very easy to prepare.

Today being Onam, thought to try this tasty dessert. You can use store bought rice ada or make it at home. I have used home made rice ada in this recipe.

It can be had as an accompaniment with rice. Here, I have made vendakkai / ladies finger mor kuzhambu and we had with white rice and vegetable fry.
